- The vascular plant is the most comprehensive plant, which contribute a huge biodiversity of Korean peninsula. The vascular plants research division is in mainly charge of collection and classification of vascular plants such as ferns, conifers and flowering plants.
- The collection of the vascular plants houses and maintains nearly 180,000 specimens and we are involved in many different areas of research based on collection. Research areas include classification, biodiversity, and molecular phylogenetics of native species. The fourteen scientists and staffs have engaged in field surveys and research on vascular plant systematic and phylogenetics, using traditional and molecular methods such as comparative morphology, anatomy, phytochemistry and molecular analysis. We also provide a complete inventory of the indigenous vascular plant and develop a searching system, which is to broaden our knowledge of flora and distribution of national biological species.
