NIBR’s special exhibition “The Sea Slugs” held
NIBR held special exhibition titled “The Sea Slugs” from 22 October 2019 to 12 April 2020. Sea slugs are marine species with unique body shapes and glamourous colors, but relatively unknown to Korean public. The special exhibition is based on the results of the study on “Unknown marine invertebrates (Opisthobranchia)” conducted by NIBR. Photos and videos are displayed to show survival strategies and diversity of the sea slugs. In the front of the exhibition, there is a video clip showing how NIBR researchers search the species in the seas. Inside the exhibition hall, there are dolls and clothes (capes) that depict and mimic the found sea slugs so that visitors are familiar with the marine species. Visitors can wear the clothes and take a picture with the dolls. Bae, Yeon Jae, president of NIBR said: “We hope this exhibition can publicize the beauty and diversity of the unknown sea slugs in the seas of South Korea”. Along with that, we will continue to search and investigate other Korean indigenous species that remain undiscovered.” |
