The Essential Guide to the Nagoya Protocol Implementation Published

NIBR published the Essential Guide to the Nagoya Protocol Implementation on 11 December 2019 for stakeholders in research institutions and companies that use biological resources related to the Nagoya Protocol.

The book provides comprehensive information on ABS including from access to genetic resources to benefit sharing and compliance.

Genetic Resource Information Center (GRIC) of NIBR will distribute the ABS book to domestic companies, research institutions, and relevant organizations starting form 11 December 2019 in accordance with Korean government’s open data policies.

In addition, GRIC has published a series of ABS books covering ABS procedures of major biodiverse countries such as India and South Africa since August 2019 to support domestic biotech companies.

Lee Je Hoon, the Head of GRIC said: “We will continuously analyze the needs and difficulties that Korean biotech companies have when complying with obligations under the Nagoya Protocol.” “In this regard, we hope this book can contribute to address ABS challenges of the companies in a practical way,” he added.
